In Missing, the artist appropriates albums of his own family. He tries to rediscover himself in images that supposedly should have the role of keepers of family stories like those of birthday festivities. Through the parent’s narrative, he’s the child who blows out the candles on the cake, but, who are all the others standing around? In this non-recognition, the sense of that image seems to be lost. Hence the meaning of Missing, which in portuguese refers to the idea of something or someone “disappeared.” Carolina Soares
